Grinding, scraping noise at idle.
Help! I spent a weekend working on the car to change out a few things...
-Crankshaft Position sensor (diagnostic reader said so)
-Oil pan gasket (leaking oil)
-O2 sensor (previous code a while back, only changed one after cat. cause that was the problem. Changed before the cat since exhaust was off for oil pan removal)
That was the original plan, changed it all (CPS change REALLY sucked) and when I started the car horrible grinding and scraping sound. Before anyone asks yes I did put oil in the engine:) Car didn't start again. I did get another signal on my reader to change the Camshaft sensor. So I changed that along with the distributor rotor. It starts now but still makes that same grinding, scraping sound. Can timing be affected that bad from sensor changes? Seriously, thinking about dropping the oil pan again cause I am wondering if something fell inside before I put it back on. It sounds that bad!
Pull the metal flywheel cover and see if it's rubbing there
I didn't really see an accessible cover to take off only had a couple of hours to mess with it today. I tried double checking that my initial timing was set to cylinder one at the TDC mark. Pulled off the rotor and all that was lined up correctly.
I tried to upload a short clip so someone can hear what I'm talking about but I think the file is too large. It kind of sounds like it is surging some while its grinding.
