Grand Slam Southwest 06

GSSW 3. Now in FJ(Florence Junction). Newer and greater. Bigger and Badder. Grab your stuff, wine and cheese, and get your grocery getter dirty for once. More info to come shortly.

No excuses I dont have my rig washed, its not ready, blah, blah

More info to come when we get around to it.

Basically find 3 motels. Haven't researched any ratings or prices. Does anybody know anything about either of these or are there others? Last year I snoozed until the last month and the recommended motel filled up, leaving me with about a 20 mile trip each way to and from the staging area. This year I want to book early if anybody knows anything about lodging in the area.

This is the latest on it
I just called BW: 4806716000. 18667593748. They have availability, but our block is not showing up yet. I will make an attempt to call in the am to get it confirmed. The block will be under "Grand Slam". Please don't call tonight...it is not up yet...

More than likely I will stay at the BW. We are working on the banquet...but it may be at the restaurant next door, maybe the bar AT the restaurant. The blue mist is really not that far of a drive so don't feel like you have to stay at the BW. Again Super 8 is an option.

Remember meet and greet will likely be thursday night at some where convienent. If that affects you arrival at all.
More to follow.

David

Holy cow, this one is only about 6 hours of driving from me! I'd have to do a bunch of mods I've been dreaming about in order to go. Is there a date set?

It's supposed to the the 25th and 26th of March. But that's my birthday and I'll be leaving town the weekend after.

I already tried to get it past the wife and I thought the lasers in her eyes were going to kill me.

It's only an hour and a half away from me so maybe I can convince her to let me run on Saturday and come back home afterward. (I'll have to bring the kids) We'll just have to see though.

Even if I was able to get the new tires, rims, sliders, and armor I need I am still real nervous about going since my offroading experience in my Jeep is very scarce, close to none. Are participants cool with others tagging along in the passenger seats in these events?

You shouldn't have a problem- most everyone you meet at the Grand Slams will bend over backwards to help out. We'll have at least one, and likely 2 beginner to intermediate trail runs. I just spent all day pre-running some of the trails- several of them are 100% doable w\ no prior offroad experience and stock high clearance vehicle. We should hopefully have the registration site functional in a day or two- not sure what the problem is w\ it.

The biggest part of the GS experience is meeting all the knuckleheads that you've met on-line and then go wheeling with them. The stockers can be a ton of fun because of the experience needed to get them through stuff.

Driving a stocker is much more challenging than driving a lifted Jeep.

I drove a stock YJ on the trails for awhile. It was tough, but fun. Now I sit back and relax and go through lots of stuff with ease.

Just got permission from the boss to go today. I'll be bringing my best friend and potentiall my 4 yr old. The 25th will also be my birthday, so I hope to make it a good one. (YES I WANT SLIDERS PRIOR TO THIS RUN!)

I can only do the one day, but it sounds like a great time.

Hunter, what's the registration fee for this one?
