grand leg room & head room

Guys, I desperately need your input. I've got a 98' Grand Cherokee and I need more head / leg room (I am 6'-3"tall and have size 15 feet) I need to figure out how to move the seat back a bit. Is there anyone out there who's done this?

Re: It looks pretty complicated because of the electric seat stuff

ANY advice would be greatly appreciated!

THANKS

I'm 6' even. I don't have a problem. I wish I could help. I'd imagine you could try to move the mounting brackets back further, but you'd need to disconnect the battery and that because I believe the airbag stuff is under the seat.

I'm 6'5", but don't have the clown feet. If you put the seat all the way back, then put the back of the seat bottom all the way down and the front of the seat bottom all the way up, you'll get more leg room. Aside from that method, about the only way you'll get mor leg-room is to unbolt the seat, figure out if bending the front tabs flat and bolting them to the top part of the crossmember that goes through there will work, or move all the way back to the back side of that crossmember and bolt them in there.

edit - and if none of that works, sell the Grand, and get a Mercedes W140 (1992-98' S-class) or 93-01' BMW 7-series, as those are the only two cars/trucks that I have ever been in that if I put the seat all the way back, I can only barely touch the pedals with my tip-toes.

I'll chime in here too. I'm 6' 4", and I didn't have a problem fitting in a Laredo. My head brushes in my Limited (because of the sunroof), but it isn't bad. My size 10.5 feet fit under the dash ok too. So based on this, I am thinking you don't really need more leg room, but rather more foot room .
Buddha's bit about tilting the seat back is right on, you gain a surprising amount of room when you do that. Of course nobody can sit behind you....
Here's some other stuff to try:
Remove the rubber covers from the pedals and remove the knee board trim across the bottom of the dash. If these two things make life better for you, then I suggest covering the exposed support on the dash with wood trim contact paper, or maybe painting it with wrinkle finish black paint, then replace the pedals with some of those aftermarket "carbon fiber" ricer pedals. You can also remove the cover from your seat. You'll notice there is a lot of cotton batting under there. You could probably remove some or all of that and replace it with contoured high density foam. Less bulk, but just as much support.

I think Buddha's Idea of moving the bolt tabs to the back of the rail will work ..You will have to drill holes and get yourself some 2 1/2" bolts to go all the way thru.
And if you still need more room .. You could just use some pipe nipples to make spacers for the front and move the seat as far back as you want...

I don't think it's so much that your feet are extraordinarily large as it is that mine are unnaturaly small.
