Got a letter of a lawsuit against DC for WJ brakes... this for real?

Hey guys,
Got a letter in the mail today about a lawsuit against DC for faulty brakes for the WJ.

Post marked from Lubitz, et al. v. Daimler Chrysler

its taking place in the Superior Court of NJ, Bergen County (ironically where I was born).

anyone else get this notice? They're requesting my telephone no., VIN, and email.

There's a case no. BER-L-4883-04.

I didn't get one but it looks to be true:

Jeep Brake Rotors
The Mason Law Firm represents model year 1999-2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee owners in a class action arising from alleged defective front brake assemblies. In Lubitz v. DaimlerChrysler Corp., a consumer fraud class action lawsuit, The Mason Law Firm serves as plaintiffs’ Co-Lead Counsel. The lawsuit was brought by an owner of a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee who at his own expense replaced the front brake assembly which had prematurely failed. Plaintiff alleges that the front brake assemblies of model year 1999-2002 Jeep Grand Cherokees were defectively designed and that DaimlerChrysler knew of this defect yet failed to notify consumers either before or after sale. The plaintiff claims that all persons who purchased these vehicles are entitled to replacement of the front brake assembly at no expense.

Sure:
here's some info:

Jeep Brake Settlement
Claims Administrator
PO Box 91115
Seattle, WA 98111-9215

Toll Free: 866-817-6522

this is the number to either request a claim form, or to opt out of the settlement.

i'm still reading all the jargon. It states that the "settlement class" is anyone who bought a WJ from May 1, 1998 to present. There's a special sub-class for the 99-02's, i'm assuming because of the different calipers.

The argument is that ..."[DC] manufactured 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee automobiles with defective front brake components, including calipers and rotors, such that some of the vehicles manifest pulsation when the brake pedal is applied. Plaintiffs' lawsuit asserts claims against [DC] for breach of express warranty, breach of implied warranty, negilgence, fraud, and violation of consumer protection statues. Plaintiffs also seek a declatory judgement that the 36-month, 36,000 mile warranty applies to repairs made to correct the pulsation problem."...

I wish the AC evap thing for ZJs went farther. Last I heard the class action didn't get as much support as needed.

The lawyers will make bank, Jeep gets screwed, you'll get nothing, wasted time. Just replace your rotors the first them they warp and be done with it.

when i looked up the recalls on my ZJ, warped rotors was one of them.

this lawsuit is from some closet case that just likes to whine.

Oh no no no no.....

I'm on my 4th set of pads, second set of calipers and third set of rotors. (that's the new calipers by the way). And on my 5 month since the upgrade to the new rotors, pads and calipers... you know.... the new DC ones that were supposed to fix all... Well I say BS@! I have started to squeak again and I'm getting a bit of a wable. I plan to take it in to double check the alignment it feels like rotor to me.

I am in! I want my $1.50 (will that cover a new radiator?)
