got a clunk

i have a 94 zj 4l and when crusing down the road there is a clunk in the front passenger area, does ne one have ne ideas what this is sometimes it sounds liek its in the suspension sometimes sounds right under the gear shifer, like tranny/transfer case, its starting to piss me off thanx for ne input


In comission:2004 WJ, stock....

Check your front sway bar bushings...the ones from the bar to the frame of the vehicle. I had the same noise and new bushings fixed it. This seems to be very common on Grand Cherokee's. Make sure you get polyurethane ones so you won't have the same problem again. Good luck.

i was actually under my jeep the other day and noticed metal to metal contact area around that area, and that bushing is all dry rot, worn to about 1/4in, i had a feeling it might be that also cuz my dad had a similar noise in his TJ and those bushings fixed that, ur a life saver, thought it was gonna be something expensive, but since you had like the same sound, it makes the diagnosis that much easier, thanx!
