Going head to head with these specs which jeep will perform better offroad,

Heres the scoop

For a while I was the only one with a Jeep at school, Now a couple of my friends have also "recieved" a Zj. One of them was lucky enough to get the 98 5.9 edition. Hes never had a lifted jeep and hes gonna throw a rubicon express 4.5 and 2 inch spacers ontop of that (6 1/2 inches of lift) and run 35s???!!!. I told him he should run 33s with that lift it works well and looks good but I guess I cant force someone to do anything right. He also has no plans of regearing, lockers, new front axel or anything along the lines of the ones that have been drawn. so according to the following which do you think would do better offroad? and has the less chance of breaking

94 ZJ:
--------------
4 inch lift
31 cooper mudders
soon to be discos
stock 3.55 gears
4.0 I-6

VS

98 Zj:
-------------
6.5 inch lift
35 inch swampers
stock 3.73 gears
5.9 360 amc v8
stock 30 front ( will this break with the 35s? wont it?)

just curious.

He's not going to regear with 35's? He definately has a lot to learn, definately tell him to visit the site to get some info before he starts this or he will end up doing this all wrong.

I've heard plenty of stories of the 30 holding up to 35's even locked. Its going to ride like crap, but the 5.9 *MIGHT* be able to get 10mpg out of them on stock gears. You will probably beat him from a start =P

Oh and the truck with the better driver will go further.

Now, Madbiscuit, why would that ZJ ride like crap. I run that lift and it rides very nice.

Your buddy will not like the performance with the 35s. He should check out my ZJ with that lift running 33s.
