Is this going to be a decent viscous coupler?

Found this on Ebay. I'd like to retain the AWD aspect of the 5.9 limited I just picked up. Viscous coupler is on the way out. Is this cheap rebuild gonna be a decent replacement?

I will say though I am not too keen on that one and one warranty. Just because they remanufactured the coupler doesn't mean it's good. I have had a few bad reman parts come into my store.

There are different part numbers fro the VC throughout the years. I'm not sure what the difference is from 96+ but I would not use a 93-95 VC on a later model. As far as that goes, you used the words "cheap replacement" for the VC hahahaha

You won't know unless it's bad right away. It might work for a week, 6 months, or a year.

But do let us know if it fails right away.

Ill take it if it lasts a year. lol Im sick of not having a front ds in my 5.9. This will be my 2nd or 3rd one in that beast. If I do it........ my 95 has been steady on one I replaced way back.

Can't you just pull the vc and run the newer 249 that way?

IIRC, you'll have 2hi and 4low lock after reinstalling the front drive shaft.

Although, I'm down in fl so no need for the awd, I'd rather have 2hi and 4low.

The VC part number changed in 97, not with the first gen second gen switch. The difference in first and second gen 249's is mechanical in the case not the VC.

On a second gen 249 you can remove the VC and you will have 2hi and 4lo (locked).

If quality fluid was used then a reman vc should be fine. Run with matched tires a VC should get 200k.

His Ebay description claims it will work on all 249j cases. He goes in to detail on why that is. Anyone read that and agree or disagree? Certainly seems cheap enough.

That makes sense, and is why I said "part number" changed. I know it wasn't a mechanical difference in the coupler itself, good to see that confirmed. Sounds like he knows what he's talking about, I'd go for it.

No need to laugh, I assumed the pics in the ebay listing showed both sides.
