Getting my New 5.9 on Monday

well as per my first post, i finally made a deal today for the 5.9 i was talking about, and the deal is even sweeter.

its a slate gray 5.9 with 166k miles. that was all i initially knew. the owners father was selling it for him, and it just so happened that the owner was home from maryland visiting today when i went to make a deal for it. here is what it has done:

brand new tires
brand new brakes
swapped out trans (only has 60k on it)
242 transfer case swap
CV joints swapped out with U joints
new radiator
higher output alternator from a police interceptor 5.9 durango
new rear hatch struts
new cat
ported throttle body
and a couple other odds and ends that i cant think of right now
EDIT: forgot to add, ECU retuned to run on 87octane

i cannot wait to pick it up on monday. the thing feels rock solid and runs and drives like a dreaml. i was actually really impressed with how it rode and felt for a car with 166k on it! and the best part: i got it for $2400.

Post pics when you get it.. I want to see it... Not too bad on the price either... Hows the leather holding out and the headliner and paint ? PA what about rust underneeth ?

will surely post pics. the leather inside is in pretty darn good shape considering the age and miles. headliner is good. paint is in fair condition. the hood louvers are peeeling and flaking, and the recessed area where the license plate sits on the rear hatch has a small amount of peeling, but i am going to fix those as i have access to a paint gun setup. as far as rust underneath, its got a normal amount i would say. small amounts on the shocks, underbody, frame etc.

here are a couple pictures i took real quick last week when i first went to check it out.

Yea i bought mine for $5500 tax was $6000 but that was 3 years ago, and it had only 118k on it, no rust not even a little and no swapped tranny

Great find!! Got mine about 2 weeks ago with 137,500 for $4000.
I absolutely love it...I have a lot to do to it (brakes, shocks, tune up (Kolak ignition package), tires, and front driveshaft), but it drives great, and still has a lot of power. Sounds like you don't have much to do to yours but enjoy it! Your gonna love it! Out of 2 WJ's (Limited and Overland) and 2 XJ's...this is by far my favorite Jeep!

I would get the Hemifever SCT tuner to get rid of that death flash.

BTW, only "issues" im having so far are what seem to be typical:

-VIC is showing coolant sensor is bad, and that my tail lights are out (both false readings)
-the mirrors and front seats are auto adjusting themselves (assuming when the car is unlocked)

If it's been factory flashed to run 87 octane then it's been neutered.

VIC probably has a bad solder joint. Common problem, easy fix.

For the mirrors and seat, unplug the memory switch in the door panel. You'll lose the memory function but the mirrors and seat will stay where you set them. First thing I did when I got mine.

Rust never sleeps...

There will be a sticker possibly on the PCM or on the top radiator shroud that will say "authorized software program update" or something.

Also it won't ping if you put 87 or 91 octane in. That only works in reverse. It may ping if you are supposed to run 91-93 and put 87 in it not reverse. That is because of the higher compression and timing advance from the performance computer. If you have a properly running motor and the plenum gasket has been repaired then it should not ping. All octane is is a measurement of resistance to detonation. Lower octane detonates easier than higher octane. You can use lower octane at higher altitudes in a motor that requires high octane since there is less oxygen at higher altitudes.

how would one go about having it reflashed back to 93oct? is this just a dealer job? the guy i bought it from made it sound like he did it himself somehow.
