gas tank vent on 96 grand cherokee

hello,

has anyone had to replace the vent on the gas tank?

i can only fill my tank up half way and then the gas pump clicks. i was told it is the vent on the tank.

i was wondering if this is an expensive fix and is it a dealer fix only?

thanks.

It shouldn't be hard to fix the line runs behind the left edge of the rear bumper in the back of the left rear wheel well. See if there's a brake or plug in the line. You may have to drop the tank to get to the connection. You can DIY, but that is a pain and if the gas tank mount bolts are rusty, it's a lot of fun.
