fuel pressure

With the key in the on position, when I press Schrader valve, fuel comes out, but stops.

My question is, should fuel pump keep pressure up, or does it need yo be running to maintain pressure?

The fuel pump is controlled by the computer. It runs: a few seconds when the key is turned on, at cranking and when the engine is running. The computer turns it off the the engine is not running.

The fuel pump relay or the main plug to the pcm? Just asking.
