Front axle shaft swap

I got a '97 ZJ. 4.0, auto, NP 242 transfer case and the Dana 30 front end. The ABS exciter ring on the end or the passenger axle shaft is completely ****ed, it was like that when I bought it. Seeing how ABS might help in the harsh, northern NY winters I'm looking to replace the shaft. It currently has the u-Joints (Win ) Will the gear ratio matter from my axle shaft to the new donor shaft, as long as its out of a Dana 30 with ABS? If there is a difference in splines due to gear ratio should I be able to just put the new outer shaft on my old inner with new u-Joints?
Thanks

Im not sure about the gear ratio but from what I understand is that the abs sensor counts how many splines go past the sensor in a revolution of the axel shaft. I could be wrong but it seems like if it doesn't match the abs will still not work. But like I said I could be wrong.

yea, I forgot about number of splines on the exciter ring, but ideally shouldn't they be the same?

they are called tone rings. and they are not attached to axle shaft (just pressed on). so you can just re place the tone ring if you want. but you are asking if any tone ring from a d30 will work and the answer is yes. but keep in mind not all jeeps have abs therefore wone have tone rings on the halfshafts

So, anyone know a good place to get a new set of Dana 30 Tone rings?
