"Actually..the intercooler would be off to the side of the truck..now if you got a FRONT MOUNT intercooler (FMIC) then you would have a problem..but you technically dont need an FMIC to run the turbo. A side mounted intercooler would work just as well bring in air from the wheel well..or dirt But turbo wouldnt do much if you were lookin for torque and such..
this entire statement makes no sense...guy says his friend wants him to install an intercooler and a turbo...but skid plate is in they way....you say "actually it we be off to the side"....what are you talking about? -- also, the wheel has NOTHING to do with a sidemount
cars with sidemounts (dsm's, supras, 3000's/stealths) have side mounts located in front of the wheel but complete sealed off from the wheel/tire because of what you said...DIRT/rocks etc etc.....supras for example, have inlets in the air dam to provide air to the side mount
then you talk about "side mounts are on the left" -- um......OK....supras have twin sidemounts, dsms are on the left (good job) and stealth's/3000's are twin....same with 300zx's...i believe turbo dodges are on the right
and THEN you say "side mounts are on top of the wheel well" -- no they arent.....unless some idiot puts one there for some idiotic reason...
in general - side mounts have nothing to do with wheels/tires --- location of intercooler is based on amount room normally, and how much power is trying to be reached (example - wrx = top mount intercooler....but a front mount provides great increases), and neons don't belong on a jeep
