frame repair

its to dark right now so ill post a picture tomorrow... i had an accident in my 96 jeep grand Cherokee tie-rod broke i ate a ditch which also included a piece of steel I-beam sticking out of the ground. it is also my DD so it is a big problem... so before i go loading this thing up and taking it to a frame shop i need some opinions... here is what broke the visual body is completely unharmed no visible body warp doors all open no scratches no dents. i hit a piece of steel I -beam that was sticking about 9-10 inches out of the ground with the passenger tire it ripped the uni-body open where the lower control arm attaches my initial thought is that cant be fixed what are you all's opinions

Don't even need pictures if the unibody is ripped. It will cost you more than the Jeep is worth and more than the cost of a replacement to get it fixed.

If it ripped off the lower control arm bracket, why couldn't he weld on another?

Or buy a long arm lift

How rusty is it? If its not rusty I would bend it back and fix it. If its rusty, find a different truck

If you can find another great. If its not bad, and that is all that's wrong you could have a good welder bend it back and reinforce it

if you can do the work yourself, it might be practical to fix.

i don't know any shops around here that would touch damage like that. but our state safety inspections also do not allow for significant welding repairs to be done on a frame.

I've seen worse damage fixed on the trail.

Totally agree with the fixing it yourself comment. Once you start paying somebody else the cost can quickly grow.

Cant tell the mud from rust, but my guess is it broke also because of the weakness the rust caused to it. Again I cant tell but thats what it looks like me.
