Found a Ford nine now what for the front?
I located a 9" rear end out of a bronco. It has thunderbird calipers, 4.56 gears installed, new bearings, 28 spline and the housing has been cleaned, hot tanked, and painted. 400 bucks!
![]() ![]() I just bought the RE TJ bracket kit off JU and i'm hoping the coil buckets will work with the zj coils. Now I need to figure out the front. Should I go with the Hp44 to match or should I go another route. Just looking for what people suggest. Not sure if a waggy 44 would be better for me or not. I have to figure room for brackets and the option of highsteer would be nice. Kinda want a housing that would not need to be retubed. Anyone know what year dana 44 the TNT customs truss kit was made to fit?

Are you going to run 35 spline shafts in the 9"?

I plan on doing a 35 spline upgrade once the axles are in. Right now the carrier is open. I plan to add a locker and 35 spline upgrade once everything is installed and rolling under claytons. Figure I can get some cash just selling the third member and shafts once I build up a 35 spline member.

Nice find.
I don't think TJ spring brackets will fit zj. How big are you going with tires? I think Super D30 with WJ knuckles would do it for under 35"s something like this. WJ rotor/caliper upgrade would be nice but it takes some custom work ![]() |

I'm going 35's maybe more. I looked into the scout axles but they are pass drop. Not sure if I could convert a drivers drop waggy to 5x5.5. I think my only option would be a ford 44 to match the width and have high pinion.

TJ rear coils are wider that ZJs + rear track bar bracket is totally different + TJ's control arms brackets are angled where ZJ ones aren't.PS. I believe Claytons have ZJ kit, not 100% sure though. Some ppl just chop of D35's brackets Last edited by zaq123; 03-23-2007 at 05:19 PM.. |

You can also read the 2nd paragraph there. They will work. Edit: And I thought you were just talking about the coil buckets....not all of the other brackets. |

from my experience owning both, TJ and ZJ.
TJ rear coils are wider than ZJs. BB kit will fit due to rear TJ coils being tapered on the top ![]() ![]() Quote:
we are talking about rear 9" and I don't see how BB is related to the axle bracket kit With all due respect, why would you want to make a statement like that if you aren't sure what you are talking about. Some ppl can just blindly believe you and go waist their money on TJ kit when it doesn't work on ZJ Last edited by zaq123; 03-23-2007 at 07:24 PM.. Reason: damn links |

TJ rear coils do however look like WJ rear coils.

And for it being a rear axle, if they were all the same diameter, then you could use the XJ fronts in there whether it was a rear or front axle. Also, for the BB relating to the brackets, in your first post you said the "spring brackets" so I thought you were talking about just the coil buckets. |
