It was an option, but you don't see many of them.
Lotta ppl would like to get a hold of it just to scavange the pedals, shifter, clutch hydraulics, drive shafts, etc., to convert their auto to a manual (myself included).
I'd call it a fairly rare find, but not unheard of...
If you can get it for a decent price, you might be able to make a few bux off it parting it out around here.
