found a 5spd zj in the JY

hey guys, im over form the xj forum...

-i was at the junk yard looking for some goodies when i stubles across a 5 speed zj with a 4.0.

just wondering if it was a normal option(kinda like how the regular cherokee's were) or if it was a rare find, cause it wasnt all that bad of shape, just needed a new front axle.

It was an option, but you don't see many of them.
Lotta ppl would like to get a hold of it just to scavange the pedals, shifter, clutch hydraulics, drive shafts, etc., to convert their auto to a manual (myself included).
I'd call it a fairly rare find, but not unheard of...
If you can get it for a decent price, you might be able to make a few bux off it parting it out around here.

5 speed is my username because I had a 93. It was red and I ended up with 34 Swampers on it with RE lift, ford rear end, cut fenders, custom bumpers, winch, dual batteries etc. Yep they say they made some in 94 early on but I have never seen one. I miss it. It was primo when I sold it and left it in a transporters yard for the trip to Colorado to its new owner.

They were just used in OBD-I ZJs. I think it ended in either early 95 or sometime in 94.

I believe I got $200 or 250 for my set of pedals and shifter. I think I couldve gotten more on ebay.
