Flatland 4x4

Has anyone looked into Flatland 4x4 I'm seriously considering purchasing the plans for the zj winch bumper, I have a qualified machine shop willing to cut the 1/4" plate
for me but would like to know if its up to par when it comes to the program they send to you to cut the pieces. I can weld so no worries there if this is a good company I will be ordering the rear bumper plans.

I did the flatland bumper, all you need is some patience, lay everything out, tack together, then it comes all together

Whats that bumper weigh?

94whitewidow 04-17-2013 10:09 AM

Not sure about the weight all the pieces get cut from a 4x4 sheet so give or take a few from what that weighs I'm going to guess around 80 to 90 pounds. Thanks sandman92k it looks good on your rig does it come with any instructions on assembly?

No instructions, get your self a cad program so you can view the cad diagrams on a computer, it will help

I did it. They send a CAD program, so make sure your shop has an CAD cutter. It was a pain not having any instructions as a lot of the parts are very similar, but it turned out quite fun as it was like a puzzle with lots of tack welding.

Mines 85# plus the winch, I didn't 'buy' bis plans though because I think it's ridiculous to pay someone to knock off another companies bumper

I kinda like your design riot, why not just modify it to be lighter?

Thanks man

I just posted in your other thread lol. To me, it looks a taste big. Its just a heavy piece is all. I had the same design on my old jeep, t-boned a guy goin about 45mph. It destroyed his car, my jeep too, but not nearly as bad. That bumper didnt even make my airbags go off. It was a tank. Held up really good considering. Haha it was a good test for it. Ill have to do some trimming on it when I trim my fenders. Ill be getting a plasma cutter soon so I can modify it easier so I may keep it. I dunno. Id like to try to sell it and see what I could get for it.

How did you mount your shackle tabs, did you cut a hole and use a fish plate or just weld them to the face?

Sent from your back seat!!!

I'm guessing you used steel plate? How thick?

It looks really nice though i dig it. I'm debating on the flatland bumpers myself.
