what kind of flag are you talking about ... American Flag.... warning flag for the trails ...
For trails we always used a 102" cb antenna with flag and light on the tip..... because at night it had to be lit...

I am talking about a warning flag for silver lake. It has to be 10' in the air, and I need something that will be strong enough not to bend. What type of bracket did you use/where could i find on?

just google cb antenna..... there you will find mount, springs & 102" whip antenna.... it will bend but will stay up in the air... you will need some bend to avoid trees...
we used flags made from orange rain suits

as for mounting there may be enough room to use a flat piece of metal ... between the hood and grill.. at that height you should be pushing about 11 ft.. it's flexable enough to bend and hook to the back for travel

They sell them at Silver lake for $5. Do you have tow hooks? just mount it right on one of the tow hook bolts.

Its a WJ but you get the idea.

I dont have tow hooks because the with the ZJ you have to buy these big brackets to attach them way up in there. I dont have a place for the tow hooks already there.

Let the flag stick up and close it in the rear door at a slight angle.

Yes, WJs are like that too but you need to invest in recovery if you're going to be wheeling.
