fixing the windshield washer fluid

hey,

my windshield washer fluid doesn't work, i figured out the problem, it's spraying but it's not coming to the windshield, i tried to fix it but i couldn't take off the plastic that covers the windshield wipers, the fluid is spraying right under there. can someone tell me how to remove the plastic covering from off the wipers??????????

could it also be that the nozzels are clogged....maybe get a small needle and clear up the sprayers...maybe.

My guess is that little Y connector that seperated the right and the left has a hole in the membrane and when you press the switch the fluid is going out of the hole. to get to it, all you have to do is remove the two plastic screws and then take off the wiper arms. You can find new Y connectors at any auto parts store, or fix it yourself by cutting a new membrane from a pair of latex gloves.

go buy a small wiper puller. resembles a small gear puller. Yank those off, then pull the clips out securing the plastic panel.

I had this happen to a 96 GC. You may only need to pop the fasteners off to pry up the cover enough to gain access, but I would just pull the wiper arms and cover and clean in there while off.

Oh, and trim that hose back .5 inches so its a new tight fit.

There's probably a nut holding each one on the splined shaft. I have no experience with these wiper arms in particular, but generally there is a single 12-14 mm nut that holds the arm on the shaft. See if there is a plastic cover over the nut.
