First step in the ZJ living again.

Just ordered the rebuild parts for the tranz.

All new guts.

I'll be pulling the tranz next weekend to see if I can salvage the case.

Doing it yourself?

I plan on TRYING to rebuild the one sitting in the basement sometime soon.

Was going to get a build kit and one of the shift kits which is supposed to shift better, but it also lost the ability to lock in park so not sure what is broken with that.

Buy manual and go!

I did Ford's A4LD with only alldata access and it worked great at least for the 10k miles I had that car.

It's not that hard if you use your brain :-)

Yup.
Doing it myself.

I mean... Is there any other way?

I got all the clutches and steel.
And the "shift improver" kit.

The kit only comes with the front band tho. WTF?

Is the rear band not important or something.

I need to find myself one.

From I can remember, the rear bands are associated with the forward gears and the forward band is for reverse. But I try not to think about transmissions. They scare me a bit

Is there big difference? They have only ATF+4 at my favorite parts store so I had no choice :-)

I dont know.. Guess I was confused about it. I read that you can top off +3 with +4 but not to add +3 to +4.

Then I read this http://www.jeephorizons.com/news/atf_081205.html

The atf+4 replaced the +3, in a retroactive move by DC. I would use the +4 if I was doing it, thats what I put in my tranny when I switched it over to synthetic, shifts really nice now
