Experiencing loss of power and stalling

Hey,

This randomly happened one day, I figured it had something to do with my breaking my distributor (the last post I made) but since ive installed my new distributor the problem persists. My jeep will fire up and run -fine-, but as soon as I go to take it on the road and try to accelerate off from a stop it will choke up and almost stall out. No matter how much gas I give it it will not change the acceleration much, I can be pedal to the metal and itll only go like 30 mph. The last time I took it on a drive (yesterday after new dist) I pulled off to the side of the road and poped the hood with it running so I could stare at it with disbelief It would be ideling like normal, and then 5 seconds later kinda shudder, idle fine for 5 seconds, shudder....and when I got back in to try and limp back home, it died. What could be the cause of this? Im reading different things, bad TPS, bad CPS and wanted a second opinion.

EDIT: And its throwing these Codes
12 Direct battery input to PCM was disconnected within the last 50 Key-on cycles.
13 No difference recognized between the engine MAP reading and the barometric (atmosphere) pressure reading from start-up.
54 No camshaft signal detected during engine cranking.


12 is a no brainer, 13 I dont know what its getting at...my MAP is Brand new within the last 5,000 miles, 54 ?

Check your fuel pressure and pump.

Dumb question, but did you check the map hose?

Ill go out and check the map hose right now actually, I may have poped it off. I accidently split it in two a while back and cant find a replacement so I just used some electrical tape and tapes it back together, its been runin fine for months maybe my ghetto patch finally broke.

And I dont think its my feul pump, but I cant say that for sure, I know the schrader valve on the fuel log spits gas when you press it in but I dont actually have a guage I can test it with.

yea it looks like the tube may have been bumped and it ruffled up the tape a little bit and was lettin air thru, I retaped it and ran around the neighborhood and goosed it alittle and it seemed to have gone away, Ill take it to work and see if it acts up on the way

Go buy some vac line. Less than a $ a foot. Then cut to length and install. No more worries.

Does it have to be the same ID as the original hose though, otherwise I would have just done that but I figured a larger ID would adversely affect the readings

I would suggest taking care of the codes before you can expect it to run smoothly..

12 - is somewhat normal.. So dont bother with this one

13 - no change in map sensor.. Either bad sensor or the hose is not connected where it should be. Check the connection as well

54 - is the magnetic sensor beneath the distributor cap.. Check to see if its connected. If it is, the sensor is either bad or the wiring is.


These might help you out.


To display codes cycle the ignition key On-Off-On-Off-On within three seconds. Check engine light will start to flash - Count the number of flashes, first digit, pause then second digit will be displayed in a series of flashes. (2 flashes, pause, 1 flash = 21)

11 - No Crank Reference Signal At PCM (Crankshaft Position Sensor)
12 - Battery Disconnected Within last 50 Key-on cycles
13 - No Change In MAP Sensor
14 - MAP Voltage Too Low Or Too High
15 - No Vehicle Speed Sensor Signal
17 - Engine Is Cold Too Long
21 - O2 Sensor Signal At Center Or Signal Shorted To Voltage
22 - ECT Sensor Voltage Too Low Or Too High (ECT = Engine Coolant Sensor)
23 - Charge Air Temperature Sensor Voltage Too High Or Low (Intake Air Temp Sensor)
24 - Throttle Position Sensor Voltage Too High Or Too Low
25 - Idle Air Control Motor Circuit Shorted
27 - Injector Control Circuit Signal Not Responding Correctly.
31 - EVAP Purge Solenoid Circuit Open Or Shorted
32 - EGR System Failure
33 - A/C Clutch Relay Circuit Open Or Shorted
34 - Speed Control Solenoid Ciruit Open Or Shorted (Vacuum Or Vent)
37 - Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit Open Or Shorted
41 - Generator Field Not Switching Properly
42 - Auto Shutdown Relay Control Circuit Open Or Shorted Or No ASD Voltage
44 - Battery Temp Sensor Voltage Out Of Limit
45 - Overdrive Solenoid Circuit Open Or Shorted
46 - Charging System Voltage Too High
47 - Charging SYstem Voltage Too Low
51 - O2 Sensor Signal Stays Below Center (Lean)
52 - O2 Sensor Signal Stays Above Center (Rich)
53 - Internal PCM Failure
54 - Sync Pick-Up Signal Not Detected (Camshaft Position Sensor/Ignition Pickup)
62 - PCM Failure SRI Miles Not Stored
63 - PCM Failure EEProm Write Denied
