I've been having problems with my engine idling, mainly, it won't. It starts, with a little pump of the throttle and I have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it going, otherwise it dies. Once I've done this for about 10 minutes, it'll run on it's own.
I got under the hood to check out the throttle body and I noticed my ccv hose going into the top of the valve cover near the back of the engine, near the firewall was detached. Turns out the 90 elbow was had dried out and completely broke in two. The hose will sit in it, but no seal at all. Could this be causing the idling issues? It is a major vacuum leak, but is that enough to make it stall? And why does it run ok once it's warm?

Clean the IAC and fix that vacuum leak.

The throttle position sensor (TPS) is good for this problem also. Get a mopar one. There are after-market one's available, but a factory one will be the recommended fix.

Another symptom has popped up on this one. Now I get in it and everything is completely dead when I try to crank it. No lights, nothing. Not 5 seconds later, starts right up...battery? Connections? Gremlins?

maybe the crank posistion sensor is starting to go bad. or you need to clean the throttle body and all the sensors in it for the idle prob.

Just clean the entire throttlebody.. Your jeep will love you for it.
Im using a non-mopar IAC and TPS without hassle....
The CCV hoses are cheap from the dealer and are made to fit just get them from there otherwise i wouldnt even suggest going there.
How old is your battery?

I know this is gonna sound crazy, but I've been having the same problem with the wife's 99 limited. starts right up then dies. if you give it some gas it will run, then after a few minutes it would idle fine. I cleaned the throttle body, IAC, and replaced the TPS. none of this changed it at all. Then I removed the battery and had it checked, they said it had a bad cell. I replaced the battery and now it runs and idles fine.HTH.

dead or dying batteries can cause strange symptoms in jeeps. they don't like voltage fluctuations at all.

ok that elbow hose goes to your map sensor the map sensor controlls the fuel air mixture on these jeeps when engine is above 80% throttle and when engine is COLD otherwise when hot your crankshaft position sensor controls air fuel mixture so fixing that elbow probably will fix it.
P.S. cleaning throttle body is always good

Map sensor is very important to hot running. One of the two sensors used to determine actual air input and density. It would throw a code and never idle right if it were the map sensor.
