Engine mounts.

Hi,
i have a '95 ZJ V8 and for couple of weeks there have been a thumping sound when accelerating/deccelerating on low speeds, 2-3 times a day. Might it be engine or tranny mounts? How could i check them? Also there aren't any instructions in Jeep manuals i have, how to replace them. Can i do it myself or does it need any special tools? How much might average worksop charge for replacing them, if it's too comlicated to do it on my own.
Thanks.

No one has replaced engine/tranny mounts?
Forgot to mention, that there is vibration sometimes, when stnding behind red traffic light. When i put shifter to Neutral and press accelerator, it smoothens.

Have a friend rev the car hard a few times and watch the engine, if it jumps out of it's skin you need motor mounts, you can visually inspect the tranny mount. The motor mounts are easy to change.......if you have changed motor mounts before.
You need to jack up the engine from the bottom.

The Haynes manual has a very good step by step write up on how to inspect and replace motor mounts.
If you installed your shocks yourself, you have all the ability necessary to change your motor mount.
