UPDATE: Engine Craps Out:---> Problem Solved!

My 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 Craps out. I have 175K miles on my engine.

Now when I start my jeep it starts the stops. And When I start it again I'll be running down the street and then it sputters and I have to pump the gas pedal
and then my jeeps continue down the street. It seams to me it does it a low RPM also. Now could be the computer?

The engine never never craped out but i will check again in a couple of days to make sure the ties are real tight. I hope it stays that way and does not start craping out again!

Thanks again bud for the heads up!

You should be getting donations at this point.

It is until you want to fork over $275.00 for a Cardone.

I agree with Zeejay, in that it's probably not a permanent fix....although I hope it is. I am beginning to suspect that the making and breaking of certain connections can eventually fry the PCM....or at least one of the components in it. My latest stalling issue seemed to be caused by a bit of oil and trash inside my distributor cap or maybe the coil wire being crossed on top of one of the plug wires on top of the cap.. Cleaned it all out...moved the wire and it's fine now. Who knows?

But hey...enjoy it while it lasts...eh ?

Its the faceplate that attaches to the body of the computer case, at least thats what mine is having problems with. Tried all the fixes mentioned and had it work for a couple of years. Now I am hosed since I have to get it emissions tested and they check for OBD resets. Well when the jeep craps out...it resets. Damn. So the computers that are online, they any good, or worth pulling the trigger on?

Does it run at Full open throttle?
If so, i say its a sensor (MAP, AIT or so) My XJ with 4.0 had issues like this mostly at startup.

Apparantly the computer disregards any input from the sensors at FOT.
