Just thought I would bump this...I removed my k&n earlier today and did this mod. No noticeable difference between the two...now I gotta figure out what to do with the k&n....

It came off a 1998 - 99 dodge durango or dakota 5.2 or 5.9. I managed to hunt one down to investigate. Looks like a good mod. I will have to try it on my next stop by the JY. Thanks again PolkaPower.

Dont forget to get the mounting stud and hose with it, if your JY is anything like mine they sell it all as one complete piece if the stuff is still attached, that and they'll charge you the same price for just the air hat itself

well its drop in, and it doesnt look like the durango one flows all that well having the bracing still in the way, not to mention the spectre is a 4 inch inlet and the durango is just stock

But a properly set up 3 in is more than eunough flow for a 5.9 or 5.2 with stock internals. Upgrade the heads, cam and manifolds before going to a 4 in intake inlet

Just cause it alows that much air through does not mean the engine uses that much air. Cold air works by putting dense air into the engine thus reading lean for a split sec and the pcm adjusts and adds a tiny fraction more fuel. So it aint about size in tjis case. This is y I said upgrade tje internals and make the engine pull in more and tjat 4 in pipe might be worth the 100 dollars

More air flow, and then what? You don't have more fuel or a way to exhaust it.

That's like having a 7 inch longarm lift, dana 60s, lockers and 30 x 9.50 15 MTs.

So, is there a plan for after you suck in more air?
