Will this help me think my 5.2 is fast until the 5.9 gets out of the shop?

What did you use to trim the hood? <-- *woodworker newb*

Totally. And I used a grinder with a cutoff wheel. Just be careful you only cut the cross bars, and not the hood part with paint on the other side.

Metal trim for airhat

If the hat was turned towards the intake box then it would again hit a lower portion of the hood bracing.
Polka,

How much hood metal did you have to trim and are you still running this mod?

Yes I still have it on there. You can see in the pics on the first page where I took off some of the bracing.

I took a durango hat and heated up the side that faces to the front of the jeep. I got it reshaped about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inches lower on front. Problem is it started to bulge in to the hat instead of out. I tried to fix that and cracked it as I did not heat it up enough.

Protip: Photobucket is the best for uploading pics. Here and on tsf.net. Both sites automatically resize 'em. Plus, you can organize them and keep track of them in case you ever need to find them again.

No worries those hats are cheap if you can find them.

I finished mine today. Used my stock air tube. Its tight, but it seems to fit with no issues. She has a more aggressive sound and better throttle response. Havent driven it enough to tell any other differences n it yet. Got my air hat for the price of... FREE, delivered to my house by my buddy

Second pic shows a good side view of how angled the top of that air hat is

Did you cut a hole out? Put a couple washers where the hood bolts up to raise it a little.

Yeah I cut the bracing. Washers are a good idea. I may be able to grind some more out. Its a small area
