driveshaft removal Q

I would like to disconnect the frt driveshaft at the axle and tie it up(make a secure holder) ,and drive it around.is this safe.I have a 231w/vibs.its a pain to do both ends(I know only about 5-10min)It would just make it alot easier to only do the one end.

sounds like a bad idea ,,, as you would have to disconnect it at the axle... if the homemade holder ever broke, you would have an instant parking brake...
It would be safer to just take it out. IMO

Sounds like a bad idea. its probably as dangerous as driving around with an office chair under your hub when you cant find your spare tire.

Thats the same thing i was thinking of,but in theory it would be fine, the transfercase end should not turn if its in 2wd.

It's only a few more bolts to fully remove it. Don't take the chance. That thing breaks loose, you do hundreds of $$ of damage, and risk throwing debris on the road, damaging other vehicles. Not worth the risk.

That's a horrible idea. The drive shaft is going to rotate regardless of whether or not you have it connected to the transfer case. It is a total of 8 bolts, it will only take you 10 min to remove all 8 of them.

I'm not doing it,like I said earlier, but the shaft should not rotate if it is connected only at the tc.when in 2wd it only rotates because its connected to the front axle.
