Driveshaft removal

Ok i have been reading mixed opinions when removing the front DS on a 249. I'm looking to remove it to get better gas mileage, and honestly idk if it will be that much of a gas improvement. Also some are saying that it will do damage to the TC or the front axle. Some say not. What do you guys think and also how hard is it to pull the CV type DS.

Gas mileage won't improve.
It does hurt the 249 TC.

Never seen anyone contest that it doesn't hurt the TC.

It is easy to pull the drive shaft...is just 8, 8mm bolts.
