Drivers Side window Fell????

Wife came home and said the window just "fell" down slowely like she had rolled it down. So I pulled the door panel off and o Joy I only get this little tine hole to work in.

I can see anything wrong other than the window is all the way down the button engages the motor and it tries to do stuff but nothing happens. There is a metal cable that has slack and tightens when I push the window up.

If i let go it slides right back down. Any one??? Please? Thanks!

do a search you have just encountered teh dreaded broken regulator. Not repairable need a new regulator, $120 at autozone $250 at dealer, get dealer if still under warranty. Not bad to replace yourself.

by the way add some vehicle info for better troubleshooting responses, I am assuming you have a 99 - 04 Grand Cherokee

Check out : http://jeepin.com/features/wj_window_regulator/

The regulator may look ok while it is in the door but if you run your hand up the vertical track inside the door you will find the end of the 'lifting cable' that was once tied to the regulator cener lifting assembly.

Check out Rockauto.com...there is also an online coupon for 5% off your purchase, just search for Rockauto coupons and follow the directions. I curreently have a passenger regulator on order for $96 to my door. I have the pleasure of owning two Chrysler products with disposable regulators/motors and Rockauto got me the last power window motor within six days by ground.

I had both front regs fail within two weeks of each other. Talk about timing.

The motors, tracks, cabling, etc., are not what breaks. It is the POS plastic block that the up/down cables are attached to.

It sounds like your nylon plastic block broke and your up regulator cable is hanging loose. The cable is probably wrapped around the spool too. I had the same thing a few weeks ago. You'll need to open up the motor spool and straighten out the cable where it's bent and wrapped up. Nothing too major.

It is easy to fix, and if your are ok with changing out the window regulator, then I would suggest that you get these aluminum blocks to replace the plastic blocks for the window regulator cables:

I bought four. One for each window. They're about $30 each. Say good bye to broken window regulator problems.

Thanks guys. I was hoping it was quick and easy. I have not even owned this thing a month yet. ITs going back to the dealer to be fixed. Already been back to have the heater core done. I will order some of those aluminum blocks soon and swap them out of all 4 windows.
