Drivers Door won't lock or unlock (w/fob)
Mine should have keyless entry, but doesn't. The last guy put in a remote starter, but the fobs do lock and unlock. The drivers door however does not. I took the panel off and looked and listened as I hit the lock and unlock. It appears that the actuator? stopped working? It's a black thing just inside the edge of the door by the latch part.
How do I get to this to replace it (if this is the problem)

Will it lock and unlock with the buttons on the door panel? If it does, and the fob locks and unlocks the pass side door, then its in the wires from the fob to the selinoid. There is a rubber boot between the door and the body is usually where the wires get crimped.. I would look there and put a test meeter to work on those wires..

Sorry that I was not more clear.
It will not lock, by the remote or by the button on the door. I can only lock and unlock it by hand or by the key in the hole from outside

ok, the solenoid is shot.. Verry common. Three screws on the door jam should remove that part.. you can find one in a junkyard or try ebay.. I think your Haynes has a write up on it..
note* you should still check that your getting voltage at the solenoid!

Is that the black thing that I am calling the 'actuator'? Thanks a lot!

Yes, its the latch and the "actuator" all in the same unit! They cant be separated.. I think each door is different. a left and right front and back!!!
