double cardan joint

well that was no fun....

about 4 hours later i'm finished

the u=joint that went bad was the only one with a zerk..

did replace all three.. and notice a little valve thing to put grease in the ball thing..

also i would like to kick the butt of who ever designed that mess...

my time... two minute to raise vehicle....

15 minutes to remove drive shaft.

3 hours for 2 cardan u joints

15 minutes for front u joint

15 minutes to reinstall...

15 minutes to check it over TOMORROW.....

when i'm in a better mood

those are some dinky bolts that hold it all together
i was surprised ......

That must be why I was happy to pay a shop $55 (including the joints) to replace those two for me. Sometimes it pays to pick your battles.

5 minutes to raise the Jeep with my worn out jack

15 minutes to remove the shaft.

20 minutes total for for two round trips to the shop.

15 minutes to put it back.

2 hours and 35 minutes, time left to sit and dream of off roading in Colorado

yeah but i had so much fun doing it.......

i guess i could have taken it to a drive line shop in wichita..... but it needed fixed

and besides it only cost me 35 for the u joints... so i guess i paid myself 5 bucks an hour

and where in kansas do you live...

still have a clicking noise ,,,, sounds like a cv joint ,,,, i replaced them about 4 years ago.....lifetime warranty ,,,,,but still

i wish this little stuff would quit breaking so i could lift my jeep a little....

The name of the shop is Power Drive. They are at 4401 W Esthner in Wichita. 316-942-4227. Good folks. Pulled my feet from the fire several times. They will also shorten or lengthen drive shafts, and they won't vibrate when they are done.

I stopped doing stuff like that for FUN at least 20 years ago. It got to be like
