Door lock motor

Does anyone know where I can get a motor for the drivers door lock? I've tried local salvage yards with no luck, ebay no luck, and just can't bring myself to pay what the dealer wants yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What would this part be called? I thought it was an actuator, but don't see that listed. Is there another name for it?

Not specific enough to not make it a PITA. I believe the dealer has it for 40 bucks a pop it's the called an actuator. I need one as well. If there is a better deal let me know. I have seen them on ebay but after contacting the sellers they are specific to the grand cherokee and the other models, cherokee etc. will not work-

door lock

Contact Jeeps unlimited at jeep_ray@hotmail.com. They quoted me $20.00 + shipping. I've bought several used parts from them with really good results. Good Luck!

sweet I will do the same. Is it true that it is rivited in and you must drill it out and then replace the rivits with bolts or rivits if you have a pop rivit gun? thanks.

At least on my '95 RR door, no rivets - just remove door panel, iirc you need a couple torx drivers and a phillips screwdriver. The clips can be a bit fiddly, but it's a pretty easy job.

Maybe that's why the other ones aren't the same as they are rivited in.

Napa calls it the Door Lock Motor, and at least on the 94-96 ZJs, it's the whole latch assembly. You'll see in another post that I've been fighting mine for months. You just need to pull the door panel off from the inside, peel back the plastic and contort yourself by growing 2 more elbows. Actually, it's not that bad. Clips can be a pain in the fingers if it's cold though.

For the driver door latch assmebly, stealership out here wants $91. Some salvage yards do have it though. Just pray that it's not your driver door module. You dont' even want to know what the stealership wants for that

Have Fun

There WAS a Goose in my driver Door.

Just paid $65 + tax from the dealership here in Iowa for my 1999 Grand Cherokee Laredo driver door lock / latch / actuator mechanism. Also had to pay $1.50 each for 3 plastic clips that broke in the process of taking the door panel off.

3 torx screws hold the lock in place. Only note: There is a hex head adjustment screw that you need to tighten once you change out the actuator. It is accessible from the end of the door thru a hole (just adjacent to the 3 torx screws that hold it in place.) Also, I used the old top two rods (outside handle/key lock linkage) as trying to undo the plastic clips way up in the top corner of the door was a pain.

So why the title of Goose in my door? - You'll have to have one of these go out to really understand - but suffice it to say that when you hit the lock/unlock button - it sounded just like a goose honking.
