also the original reason i posted this was to poke fun at the ZJ thread not to start a serious convo about whats better
i thought it would be obvious when i copied that guys big post and changed ZJ to WJ.

Now this has been a fun read! Nothing like a spirited debate, (more taste / less filling) now all we need is some cheerleaders on each side and we will have a jeepforum commercial
I have had a ZJ from 94 till now, I have had a WJ since 04 till now. If anyone tried to tell me my orvis was not as good as their WJ I would offer to take them on some trails and follow my leader BUT now that I have the WJ and I am behind the wheel I would say the reverse; bring on that ZJoh well at last,... I am the only one around willing to dog the crap out of the grocery mobiles bottom line I love 'em both, and my family and friends have certified me a jeep nut since 87 when I had my loaded YJ peace

Well, I will add my 0.02... I like WJ better. Sure ZJ is legend etc, but to me WJ was the best SUV-type jeep ever. It is great compromise, that can show a lot both onroad and offroad. We can not discuss about their design- I like it, some people don't, and that's fine. But noone can say all these improvements weren't good. Blend dors- yes, a bit crappy, but I would love to replace them once in my life and be happy because of having unique quadra-drive, and all othr stuff that ZJ just don't have.
I also think that WJ was one of the best SUV's of it's times, just like ZJ earlier. It's just an evolution... wasted after fusion with Daimler : It's real shame that i was replaced by WK. But well- "market wants, market gets"... Anyway, both ZJ and WJ are not as capable offroad, and not as nice onroad as they should/could, for sure rigs like Toyota are better in both, but jeep has something in it. Their simplicity and soul. They are not just couple pieces of metal. It is something that makes you wanna kiss it in its hood, isn't it? Reasuming, the only thing we, WJ and ZJ owners can say to people saying how crappy jeeps are: "it's a jeep thing, you wouldn't understand"

My brother happens to have a 98 4Runner, and a 05 4Runner. The 98 is very impressive off road and we have had years of fun at the beaches and dunes anyway. It tended to overheat fairly quick, he could not get over obstacles quite as easy, a Felled tree for example. but all in all it was quite close. Now his 05 seems to be heavy and slow compared to my 04 WJ but we have yet to really hit it yet.these are when we were both stock...

Man, first 02GrandCherokee starts a thread to make fun of the ZJ, then I make fun of the WJ, and now there is an ongoing debate. Next thing you know, the ZJ and WJ thread will be split up.

Its funny because I was mad when the WJ came out. I didn't care for the 93-95 ZJ's, but I was a diehard ZJ 96-98 fan and was not too happy they replaced it after 3 years of one of my favorites on the road. Now I own a WJ and love it, thats how far ahead of its time it was!

I like my ZJ. Like my WJ more. The ZJ was good when it came out, was still good in 98, but the WJ took over in 99. Than Jeep took a step back and designed the WK. Fools. ![]() |
