Dogde Alernator in ZJ, 4.0...???

Hello @ all,

a friend told me that for some dodge the alternator with about 180 amps even with the 4.0 liter engines of the zj, 1996, should fit. In my unfortunately is only a 90 amp and I need more amps.
Do you have more info for me because what could it be? Eventually, the number of Mopar parts or even Nippon Denso and another manufacturer?

Thanks in advance

Sorry for my bad english...

This is the 136amp alternator which was OEM from the V8 Grand Cherokee's and Dodge Dakota/Ram's etc.

If your truck was optioned differently, it would have the 136 amp alternator. So your parts store should list the higher alternator without needing to look it up for a different vehicle.

Motor City Reman alt

I opted for the Motor City Reman 150amp alt for $250. It bolted in ok, but I had to create some small 12ga pieces of wire with two ring terminals, as it was not a 1 to 1 replacement. 30 min of work and an unexpected trip back to the store, but I'm happy with the outcome.

From the factory the car had installed the 136 amp alternator, as that was broken, I unfortunately have no other than the 90 amps.

Now I have a lot of electrics, a winch, and I need more amps.

As I said, a friend said that one should fit well for any Dodge with 180 amps. Just what is it and for what vehicle?

I'd be real surprised if they have an O'Rilies in Germany.....

Try searching the Forum, I know someone's swapped in a Dodge alt. for the Jeep!

The dodge dakota or durango use the 180 Amp alternator.

I believe it's a 160 Amp alternator...not 180.

That being said, right after I did the swap of using a Dakota/Durango/Ram 160 amp alternator...another user here finds that there is a Chrysler Town & Country minivan alternator that is a DIRECT fit and there is no cutting/splicing of wires at all. Think they're about $125 at the Zone????

You could search thru any of the threads/post I've made on that subject and you'll find that link.
