Do ALL 5.2 Laredos come with Dana 44a?

So I was just lookin at a video of a 94 ZJ with the 5.2 and I could have sworn I saw a Dana 35 in the rear.
I thought all the V8 models came with the Dana 44a?!

regardless of trim package. only some of the 44a's came with the LSD from the factory. I dont know if trim package mattered. I do know that all of the 5.9s came with a 44a w/ LSD

You don't want the LSD. It's not worth it. Might work ok with stock tires but with larger you won't even know it's there.

Basically I agree, but, if you can get a free LSD, with your axle, go for it, until you can get a real locker, if that's where you're headed.

Good luck on it being in good shape. You will most likely have to rebuilt it. Mine was crapped out at 127k when I bought it with no off road use.

If I do anything i'm gonna want two TrueTracs in both ends. I dont do any real rock crawling these days...thanks to my 8 month old daughter
And I cant see myself throwing anything more on the ZJ than a 4-4.5" lift and some 33's.

I've wondered, Eaton doesn't make a TrueTrac for the Jeep's 44A. They do make one, however, for the Viper and Corvette 44A. Would these be interchangeable? The cost on it is almost double a TrueTrac for a D30.

Well that blows. I had a Truetrac in the front of my TJ and LOVED the thing. Ran 33" tires and it seemed like a full locker even in off camber situations.
Id like an auto locker in the rear then. Anyone have an suggestions for a lunchbox locker for the 44a?

If I remember correctly the Jeep 44A and Viper/Vette 44A are totally different in every conceivable way. I looked into upgrade options for a 44A and came to the conclusion it'd be better to get an 8.8, even considering the 44A's use outside of Grand Cherokees. Some of the specifics are vague now.
