disarm the factory security feature

How do I disable the factory security system.
On a 93 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
The problem is that the alarm will only click off if I use the the keyless entry.
If I try to use the key in the door it will not disarm it and #1 - I only have one keyless remote which is a pain for my wife because she has to take mine off the keyring everytime
and #2 - the remote is acting up and takes quite a few times to unlock the door and disarm the system.
Does anyone know how to disable the darn thing or at least recommend a cheap fix to be able to use the actual door lock to disarm
