Disabling INT. lights?

Is there a way that I can put in a switch to shut off my int. lights?

Thanks
Dillon

There is a fuse you can take out. But if you want a switch on the dash or something, you will need to get your hands on wiring diagram and figure out which wire coming from the junction block is going to the fuse for the interior lights. Then just cut it and run it up to the switch and then back down to the other end of the cut. When you flip the switch on, it will complete the circuit and turn the lights on when they are supposed to be on. Flip the switch off and the circuit will remain open and the lights will not turn on.

That seems like WAY too much work just to bypass a fuse. Must be because its an HHR Why the hell would you cut a fuse and soldier wires to the posts?that kinda defeats the purpose of a fuse all together. I realize he put an inline fuse in, but why sabotage one fuse just to put in another one down the line? Its just not necessary. Just find the wire that goes to that fuse, and put the switch inline with that wire. That way, you keep the original fuse, no need to add any additional fuses. Its easily half the work the guy in the link did.

The ZJ doesnt have a single fuse for the int lights i dont think... 2 fuses one for overhead lights and another for all the others.. and these fuses also have the VIC and Radio and other things on them.. hahaha

so with that knowledge.. any ideas?

Why do you want to shut them off?

On my WJ if I turn the dash light dimmer all the way down the is a detent that if I go past it shuts off the interior lights, but also all the dash light as well.

This has been a feature on most vehicles for quite a while. I don't know if this will work for what you want to do though.
