Differential fluid change

Well i got most on the info from the forum. I bought two 4 oz. bottles of the Mopar Limited slip additive from the stealership. Next what type of gear oil should I use for the front and back differentails. Do they use the same oil front and back diffs. They are sold in quarts at the stores. Also do I use the whole bottle of limited slip additive. One for the back and one for the front! 249TC by the way.Thanx!!!

I use a 75W - 140 Synthetic Gear Lube and I noticed on my diff cover it said 2oz. on the inside cover for the friction modifier, but when I picked it up from the dealer, I specifically asked do I just add half to each axle and he said "no" pour the whole thing in (one bottle for each axle), I showed him the cover and he said, all our techs were told to add the whole bottle to each axle. So that's what I do.

Be prepared to stink. I hate that stuff. I use the 75W140 Mobil 1 also in both differentials.

Gee, I hate to be Mr. Obvious, but you could always do just what the factory recommends - in print, not what some high school dropout in a dealership tells you.

You don't have a LSD in the front so there is no reason to be any addative up front.

i just did this last weekend. 3 quarts will do ya. the book says 3.1 pints per, 2 pints in a quart and so forth. I used royal purple, which already has a limited slip additive. if you don't have a siphon, (which I don't) buy a 3-4 feet of 3/8" (I think) fuel line to put on the end of the bottle to fill the diff. fill it until it starts running out the hole. nothing you can't figure out on your own, but there you go

I was talking to the service manager of a 5 star dealership, I don't think he was a high school drop out, but I could be wrong.

see that tube thingy on the top off the bottle.? BUY IT! Will make filling the diff 10 times easier.

oh yeah and dont forget to use RTV sealant I did and now I have to redo it.

As for how to not make a mess with it maybe sure it is on the bottle tightly but not over tight. Also you can turn it on and off.... turn it off.. put the hose in the fill hole... turn it on. It be comes harder to use as the bottle becomes less full. I suggest buying two bottles and combining them when they become half empty.

I use a pump I bought from Checker...I have two one for quarts and one for gallons. Screws on and has a tube which leads into the fill hole. No bottle to lift
