when they say my 96 GCL has a limited slip diff what do they mean? is this what the Jeep spin-doctors refer to as a 'trac-loc' diff?

I believe so... it's called different things by different manufacturers i.e. posi-traction, trac lock, limited slip but I think it's basically the same idea.

Consider yourself lucky... getting owned by open diffs is incredibly embarassing. I got stuck in a buddys front yard at a big party one time not cool...
