I'm still running stock crap and my rear tires might be from '94. You can picture how they look.
Found a guy selling five Firestone Wilderness AT's on scratched YJ alloys for $150. Tires at around 80% tread. I need new meats and this seems like a good deal. Anyone? They'll be good winter tires with the beater wheels, and I figure will work well with the 2" lift I keep meaning to put on.
Definately check your local Jeep boards, man the two around here have many tires for sale every day. People change tires like underware around here, going bigger or trying different styles. I got a set of 34" TSL's for $100 with 75% tread and tried them for a couple weeks and then sold them and made a few bucks.
That sound like a decent deal since they come with wheels, go for it

Man, that didn't go as planned. The guy with the tires was really nice and even offered to drive them over. It killed me that I had to turn him down after I saw the things. Hard and shiny looking old rubber, lots of cracking around the tread and an inch up the sidewall. A couple had maybe 60% tread and were worn a little off camber. One of them looked like something had been spilled on the sidewall and it was brittle and flaky. Wheels were beat too, but that didn't bother me.
I have pretty low standards but I figure I'd rather just double my outlay and get some new ones, or newer used.
