Dash frame

I was wondering if the frame behind the dash offers any extra support.

I can't really find anything on it online. But the reason I ask is when I get a dd and turn the 4.0 into a wheeler I was going to take the dash out and take all the un needed stuff out and put my intake in the cab. I guess I could keep the frame and put a oh ***** bar off of it for passenger.

Anybody have anything on this? It's gonna be a few months till I start the tear down on the 96 but is the dash frame needed or can it come out with out adding extra bracing?

That's exactly what I'm going to do. Going to route the intake into the cab as well to keep water from splashing up into it. You got any pics of your interior gutted?

Yeah I can take some tomorrow.

The fresh air intake opening from the cowl for the hvac box will work perfect for your plan to run the intake in-cab.

I never even thought of that so I don't have to put anymore holes in the firewall.

I dig it. When I do mine I might take a piece of tube and go from A pilar to A pilar and put a oh ***** bar. And then for the rear go from the seat frame up with a oh ***** bar. Kinda like bad bird did in bruiser. Even though his has a cage

Yep. Gives you SO much more room for a proper cage. I really can't imagine trying to install one around the dash.

I don't know if I will ever have a cage in this rig. I just don't see it still being in high school, not having a bender or a decent welder. I do have a 110 mig but its not the best. I can't wait to get a dd. the day after I get a dd is the day I start the tare down in the wheeler
