dana super 44 aluminum

Hi,
I just joined today, so maybe you can help me? I have a 1998 GC 5.9 Limited with a aluminum dana 44. I understand there is not a air locker for this rear end. Can anybody tell me what rear end is a direct swap so I can add a locker?

Thanks for your help.

No direct swaps. 8.8 would be ideal but you need some fabrications skills for the brackets. You can put an Aussie or Spartan in the back. I think those are the only two choices for the 44a.

gonna need a open carrier as well

direct swap would indeed be the D35 but you might want to buy a truck load of them if you put that behind the 5.9

Thanks for the answers, that kind of what I thought. What is a open carrier? I can't by the locker and put it in? Is the Aussie locker the best one to buy.

your 5.9 44a has a Limited slip carrier in it now the aussie/any locker for that matter will not fit in a limited slip carrier.
a carrier is
open on left. LSD on right
