Dana 30 on a 99' Grand Cherokee WJ

Looking to replace the front axle shafts on my jeep. Anybody who has done it how much did you pay for parts and labor. Is the dana 30 the only one I can put on? What brands are good? Im being quoted around $600. Does that sound about right? Anything else I should know?

$600? Yikes...

The shafts themselves are under $200 altogether. The swap is easy and can be done with basic tools.
I got my shafts from NAPA.

If it aint broke, fix it till it is.

I have two WJ's and have replaced 3 of 4 axle shafts due to the cv boot tearing in two. I got GSP brand from Advanced Auto Parts and they were arond $70 each. The GSP was about 3/16" larger in diameter than the stock ones and are stronger. If you can get a Hanes manual they help allot if you've never done one before. I can tell you the biggest problem on all three that I've done is getting the (3) 13mm 12 point bolts that hold the hub out. They are a #$%&^ to get out.
