Dana 30 and 242 spline count?

Hey guys i just want to make sure my new driveshaft is going to work..Tom at Carolina said that the 26 spline yoke goes to the axle and the 32 spline yoke goes to the 242 TC? is this correct? ive been looking at some pictures of other peoples installs and it looks as if it should be the other way around?

ive been doing alot of searching through google and have come up with the dana 30 possibly having a 26 pinion shaft splint count but is this only on tj's or something..i still cant find a definite answer on the 242..i read up on this one site that a stronger 242 that was made has a 32 spline but im still not sure..

23 spline is the input, the output yokes should be 32 spline.

The input is from the transmission to the transfercase. YOu don't care about that as far as the driveshafts go. The output spline counts are the two output shafts coming out of the back, and out the front on the side going to the rear and front diffs respectively. They are 32 spline according to ratmonkey.

so on my 242TC the spline count where the front drivesahft enters the TC is 32? i keep finding 23..also is the spline count where the front DS enters the Dana 30 at the pinion 26?

From my quick search, it looks like the D30 is a 26 spline, the input shaft is 23 spline, and the outputs are 32...Don't take my word on that though. This is something you can also head to your transfercase and count.

they "should" be, if i remember correctly. i've read it in passing on some searches myself.

just remember this for input and output, the power goes in the input shaft and comes out the output shafts. it doesn't matter which way the outputs are facing, don't think about in and out being front to back or anything like that.

jack it up and let it droop as much as you can. then compress the shaft.
