I just got a reply back from tractech about lockers for the Dana44a under the ZJs. He said that the reason nobody offers a locker for this axle is that it's prone to twisting. He also said that these axles have a hard time staying alive in stock applications. Has anybody had problems with this rear end? If this axle is such a POS why in the hell did Jeep offer it as a heavy duty option? I'm tempted to swap in a D35 out of an I6 JZ and hope I don't destroy it. I don't have $1500-$2000 to spend on a custom rear axle for my daily driven, lightly off-roaded Jeep. It mostly cruises the highway and goes into the back country during deer season. A selectable locker would be nice to have when in the mud getting to the hunting cabin. Will a D35 suvive behind a V8 equipped JZ? Or am I stuck shelling out big bucks to get a custom rear?
