I just did the conversion. Bought a u joint style shaft from a 94 GC, and brought it to a local shop to have it shortened to my size. (I tried driveshafts from xj's and gc's, none of them fit the distance I needed, all were to long, From what I hearm they changed the transmissions in later year GC's, causing the distance to be shorter.)

The drive shaft on the 95 is adjustable and from what I understand, has some room to expand to compensate for thermal expansion. This actually may have been the cause of the cv joint wearing out! It uses a compression fitting with a rubber? washer which decomposed a bit leaving the shaft with too much play...so I think.
Anyway, I'm close to finding a conversion U joint to replace the CV joint that is on the front of the drive shaft...as seen in Dillons photos. I'm learning that the cv joints are notoriously unreliable. There's also a guy on eBay who builds custom drive shafts at a very reasonable price. FYI (CV Restoration Inc.)

Striking out on finding a conversion for my driveshaft from cv to u joint without having to change the yoke in the differential! Does anyone know if this exist for the 95 GC v8? This is the most frustrating thing...I can't believe I'm having such a hard time finding this. Is the junk yard my only option?

why would you need to change the yold on the dif? Read my post above yours, worked well, and cheap.

The CV style driveshaft uses a cup-type yoke. As hard as you'd try, you'd never get it to hold a u-jointed shaft.

Sorry, didnt read it right, I though he said the transfer case end. Yes, I took the yolk right off the same vehicle I got the shaft from, swapped it with the one for the cv joint, no problems at all

99.99% sure that Zaq sent me there as well for a u-jointed shaft with an axle end that bolts to the stock yoke. They seem to be good people.

why not just swap the yolk over and get a driveshaft from the same jeep you got the yolk from?

How so? From what I was explained, was you need to make sure they are tightened the same. The yolk I took out, and the yolf I put in were the same thickness in the flange, so you just need to make sure its tightened in the same amount down the thread.

or you could just get a conversion shaft that hooks up the exact same way as the cv style only doesn't have a cv on it...
