Curious about 5.9 mpg.

Just curious about what other niners are getting for gas mileage. Just changed plugs and wires and other regular maintenance. I'm currently seeing 10.6 from the overhead before lift and above maintenance, 10.7 mpg after 4" lift and 32s and listed above maintenance.

Just curious what my fellow niners are getting and what you did too get better mileage.

If you are going by the over head, which isn't entirely accurate, mine reads 14.6 most of the time. 2" BB and 245/75's

The mpg went up after the plenum repair and 703 injectors.

I get around 13/14 in the city and 20/21 on the highway at 60. The K&N intake boosted me 1 mpg on the freeway lol. My overhead seems pretty close to real life also. Im at stock tire size and no lift and a 180 T-stat. Headers and a complete 3" exhaust and 703 injectors should help mpg also.

What is this plenum repair that I keep hearing about and where can I research it?

My stock 5.9 used to get 13.5 when i first bought it 3 years ago. It dropped to around 12.5mpg av.. I got new tires and it went to 11-12mpg.. they are 2 inches bigger and more agressive then my street tires i had on... I fixed my plenum not burning oil anymore but gas mileage hasnt gone up one bit.. personally i think people who see mpg improvements on a plenum repair are the ones who were burning insaine amounts of oil... Me i was only burning a quart every 3k so i dont think its really affected gas mileage

I think the big thing was the tire change. But my city driving is probly worse then anyone here.. I have stop lights every 50-100 yards i can barely get up to 45mph before i have to stop again... So i go through a TON of stop and go city driving..

I found this post from you earlier PolkaPower. Do you have this mod? Which one did you get, would you recommend it or no?

Email them and ask for Sean. Tell him what mods you have done and he will customize the tunes for you. You get 3 plus the stock tune that is stored in case you want it back. I don't have one yet but I am getting one.
I think the email is hemifever@aol.com There is a lot of info over at www.thespeedfreaks.net about the SCT tuner.
