Crate Engine

Dealer has a special going for a brand new 5.7 Hemi Crate engine $3995.00

Big question, can this work in my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo? The 4.7 currently installed is having issues.

No.

It would take ALOT of fabrication. It basically doesnt not fit, the biggest problem is the radiator up front I beleive, I think you would have to extend the length of the hood...I have not seen one in a WJ before, and I think that is the reason.

The only way you would be able to get it properly is if you are really really good at that stuff, or you paid a shop to do it, probably in the ball park of 10-15 grand for the labor, maybe more.

Theres a company that puts bigger engines in jeeps, I forget the name of it, but they can get a 5.7 in the TJ, but no go on a WJ.

oh well

Just a thought since the price for the new engine was right. I can find remanufactured 4.7 engines for same price as this 5.7 new.

Not available

While at dealership today, I asked in parts about a new crate 4.7 engine. They told me they are not available, can only get a remanufactured 4.7 for $5995.00.
They did say, I could get a new block and have them put all new parts in it to make a new engine. LOL Now that would be very expensive indeed.

They are crazy for charging so much for remanufactured engine with only 3 year 36k mile warranty. I can buy one else where for around $3500.00 and get 100k mile warranty.
