crank shaft sensor question

So I'm in process of replacing the intake manifold gasket. I figure while i have it all apart I'll replace the crank sensor. After i pulled it out i was reaching back and cleaning gunk around opening so it wouldn't fall in. Is there supposed to be a grommet that it goes into? the new one seems like its sitting kinda sloppy now.

Certainly appears to have a grommet.
