Crank Sensor

Can anyone tell me what the paper spacer does. When replacing this sensor the old one did not have this paper spacer and the new one that I got did not come with one. Is this a necessary piece?

I will take a guess and say yes it is necessary. Compare the old with the new. The new might be longer than the old. If so, then the spacer will lift the sensor up a bit so that it does not hit the flywheel teeth or the spacing is needs for a certain air gap spec that the sensor needs in order to sense correctly? Again this is only a guess.

The paper is nessesary. It is used to set the spacing between the sensor and flywheel. The first time you crank the enigine the paper will be torn off.

I think you can buy the paper spacer seperately from the dealer.
