A couple problems

I'm having a couple problems with my 95' ZJ. The first issue is that its leaking coolant from somewhere. I replaced the recovery bottle that had a pretty good crack in it, replaced the lower hose that I was told looked warn and felt soft, and tightened all clamps that I could see. It seemed to stop over the summer but has started again. If I look underneath I can see that its along the centerline of the vehicle. The actual drip point is the round disk just behind the lower serpentine belt loop. It appears to be running to that point from somewhere above but I cant see exactly where. Anyone have any idea? Does this sound like the water pump?

The second problem occur when taking slow tight turns. The jeep seems to slip, skit, jolt and grind. I dont know how else to describe it. It only seems to happen after I've been driving at a high speed like on the highway or a main road. I was in an accident and had many the front end components replace and it did this with both front ends. From what I have read it sounds like it might be the viscous coupler. Does that sound like the problem or is there another issue I could check? Thanks in advance.

What FPKites said. (Assuming you have a 249 T-Case)

Yeah, V8 5.2L with the 249 4x4 All Time. If the problem is the VC I would rather swap out the 249 for a 242.

Seems to be the consensus. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news there.

Water pump happens though. Mine went at 20k miles.

Good luck with it.

May sound stupid, but check your upper radiator hose too. I went out and bought a new water pump and fan clutch (just to beat it to the punch), opened the hood, and saw my upper hose with a pinhole leak under it pissing on the engine, which took a path that made it drip exactly where the water pump would have been dripping were it in fact bad. Oops.

Welcome to the "I need to buy a new VC" club. We have tshirts!

Sounds like water pump to me. It was going out in my 94 ZJ. It poured antifreeze all over the place. Fortunately for me, an f-350 totalled it before I had to replace it

Also the second problem definately sounds like the VC. Swap it for a 242 thats what I would do.

Thanks for you opinions, I really appreciate it. As for the upper hose, I dont see it leaking anywhere. From above you can't seen anything wet or leaking at all. Also with the t-case, could it be an issue of the fluid inside being bad or low ( someone metioned that to me). Thanks again guys.

Oh and I'll take one of those VC t-shirts

Probably not a problem with low or old fluid in the T-Case. I guess it could have been originally caused by low or old fluid, but does not matter now. Once its gone, no amount of changing fluid or different fluid is going to make a difference. I've even heard the theory that synthetic fluid seeps into the VC and trashes it.

Did you need a large or XL? XXL and higher is an extra $2.
